How do you identify pupils who need SEND support?
Identification is need-based, not diagnosis-based, for the Targeted and Targeted Plus tiers. Inspectors look for a clear, consistent process, not a formal diagnosis on file.
How do you involve parents and carers in planning?
Parents and carers are co-producers of the plan. Inspectors look for evidence of a genuine conversation at every review, not a notification after the decision is made.
What is your Inclusion Strategy, and is it published?
Every school has an annual legal duty to publish an Inclusion Strategy. Inspectors expect to find it on the school website, current for this academic year.
How is pupil voice captured in reviews?
Pupil voice is mandatory in every review, not optional. Inspectors will ask to see how a child's own view was recorded and reflected in their plan.
What happens if support plan coverage is incomplete?
Gaps in coverage are one of the first things an inspection checks. A school with pupils on the SEND register but no active plan is a significant inspection risk.
